Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of personnel under his command for the recent gestures of support from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Catapang said that as the holiday season approaches, the recognition from the President is the “most meaningful gift” they could receive this Christmas.
He noted that the encouragement and resources provided not only uplift the morale of BuCor personnel but also strengthen their commitment to serving the community and fulfilling their duties with integrity.
This season of giving, Catapang said, becomes a moment to reflect on unity, shared purpose, and the mission of reform and rehabilitation within the correctional system — reinforcing the bond between leadership and those who serve.
President Marcos recently issued an executive order setting an updated base pay schedule for military and uniformed personnel (MUP), to be implemented in three tranches: 1 January 2026; 1 January 2027; and 1 January 2028.
The order covers personnel under the Department of National Defense, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine Coast Guard, BuCor, and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority.
All MUP personnel will also receive an increase in subsistence allowance to P350 per day from the current P150, starting 1 January 2026.
