Fortune seekers spend a lot of time and money betting on the lottery in the hope of winning millions in cash, but most don’t have any luck. Then there are those who do.
A 53-year-old woman in Wyoming, Michigan, USA went out to buy food late one night and stopped at a store selling lottery tickets to purchase a few, the Michigan Lottery (ML) reports.
She scratched off the Lady Luck 777 tickets at home and one revealed a $1-million jackpot.
“I had a hard time going to sleep that night!” the new lottery winner told ML.
She then went to the lottery office to claim the one-time lump sum payout of $693,000, rather than take the annual payments that would have given her the full $1 million but over several years, according to ML.
Meanwhile, also in Michigan, another bettor changed his mind about buying a Blazing Suits ticket, leaving it on the counter of the Fawaz Petroleum LLC on Schoolcraft in Detroit, UPI reports.
A 33-year-old Wayne County man decided to buy that ticket.
“I scratched the ticket off and couldn’t believe it when I saw it was a $1-million winner! I never would have thought I’d win such a large lottery prize, so it’s truly a blessing,” the anonymous jackpot winner told ML.
Like the Lady Luck winner, he claimed his prize money in a lump sum of $693,000 which he said will go into his savings for the time being, according to ML.
Blazing Suits tickets, which launched in June, sell for $10 each and offer players a chance to win $10 up to $1 million. More than $32 million in prizes remain, including two $1-million top prizes and 15 $2,000 prizes, ML said in a website post.
