Kamuning Station completion pushed to January

The completion of the P89.1-million Kamuning Footbridge and EDSA Busway Station rehabilitation has been pushed back to January 2026, a month later than the original December target.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Department of Transportation said the project is expected to be completed by January.

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the revised timeline allows engineers to implement thorough safety and accessibility measures, including a wheelchair lift for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

The project, implemented during the time of former Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, covers station rehabilitation, a new footbridge with elevators and manlifts, engineers’ facilities, traffic management, and occupational safety measures.

Of the total budget, P53.96 million is allotted for the footbridge, P33.26 million for station rehabilitation, P1 million for engineers’ facilities, P488,049 for safety measures, and P420,388 for the traffic plan.

The upgrade will replace the steep Mt. Kamuning footbridge, a long-standing concern for accessibility and safety, particularly for elderly pedestrians, persons with disabilities, and commuters carrying heavy loads.

Situated along EDSA between NIA South and Scout Borromeo Street, the modernized station and footbridge will feature two elevators, two manlifts, tactile paving for the visually impaired, vertical louvers for shade, improved waiting sheds, upgraded railings, and clear wayfinding signage.

Meanwhile, Lopez also noted that station upgrades are ongoing at other MRT-3 stops, including a potential elevator at Ortigas station, to ease commutes for all passengers.
