And the Miss Universe drama continues.

In a statement released through her Instagram account, Miss Universe Côte d’Ivoire Olivia Yace announced that she is stepping back from her title as Miss Universe Africa and Oceania.

Yace, the representative of Côte d’Ivoire at the recently concluded scandal-hit Miss Universe 2025, said her decision comes from a need to remain true to the values that guide her — respect, dignity, excellence and equal opportunity — adding that stepping down will allow her to pursue them more fully.

She reflected on her journey in the pageant as one marked by resilience, discipline and determination, and reiterated her desire to be a role model for young girls, encouraging them to push their limits and embrace their identity. 

Yace also called on Black, African, Caribbean, American and Afro-descendant communities to continue entering spaces where they are not expected and to make their voices heard.

She congratulated the new Miss Universe and extended well-wishes to Miss Universe Jamaica who is still in the ICU after her tragic stage fall.

Grateful for the support she has received, Yace said she will continue her advocacy work with the same determination to uplift and inspire, closing her message with: “It’s time for Africa.”
