On 13 November, SM malls nationwide simultaneously lighted their Christmas displays in green in a symbolic invitation to Filipinos across the country to bring grace, hope and strength to those in need. The green light also signals SM Supermalls’ mobilization of assistance to Cebu communities devastated by typhoon “Tino.”
“This season, we are reminded that the true gift of Christmas lies in giving,” said Steven T. Tan, president of SM Supermalls. “Through this campaign, we aim to bring light, hope and solidarity to Cebu and its people, who continue to show courage and resilience amid challenges.”
Tan added, “We are not only extending immediate aid, but also building stronger, more resilient communities that can rise above adversity.”
The initial flow of grace from the company’s “All SM Malls Unite for Cebu” campaign was in recognition of the compassion, courage and commitment displayed by emergency responders to help communities rise again from calamity. SM City Cebu turned over 200 “Bundles of Hope” to representatives from the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Bureau of Fire Protection Mabolo, Philippine National Police Mabolo, Barangay Mabolo’s DRRMO and welfare workers.

The SM Foundation and SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arms of the SM Group and SM Supermalls, respectively, reaffirm their dedication to sustainable community support and proactive disaster response. Through their outreach campaign — coordinated with local government units, partner organizations and volunteers — they remind that every act of kindness — no matter how small — can help illuminate Cebu’s path to recovery.
