DAVAO CITY — The first Davao-Japan Friendship Golf tournament is set to attract some 180 entries when it tees off on 5 and 6 December with shotgun starts at the South Pacific Golf Club Davao and at the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.
Rayanne Arao of Rogin Inn and Garbo Promotions said around 80 Japanese golfers will see action to test their mettle against some of the best players in the region.
“We have the confirmation of having 80 Japanese players who will join the Friendship tournament. What will be more exciting is for our Japanese players to experience the feel of playing at both of Davao City’s noted golf courses,” said Arao at the weekly Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum.
She added that the tournament aims to foster friendship among Dabawenyos and Japanese through golf.
“It also aims to put the city on the map as a rising golf tourism destination,” she added.
South Pacific Golf Club Davao director Tommy Inigo also stressed that the registration fee is pegged at P20,000 per team or P10,000 per player. It includes green fees for practice and tournament rounds, caddy services, shared carts, meal vouchers, giveaways and raffle entries.
