Karl Eldrew Yulo dazzled his way into four finals to cap the first day of the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships late Thursday at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City.
The 17-year-old gymnast from Adamson High School made the cut for the boys’ individual all-around final after accumulating a total score of 78.332 points to finish in 15th place.
“My wish was granted but the job is not finished. I will do better and give more than 100 percent,” Yulo said.
The younger brother of two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo also finished second in the floor exercise with 14.233 points, fifth in the vault with 13.750 points and sixth in the horizontal bar with 13.700 points.
King Cjay Pernia finished at 106th in the individual all-around with a total of 64.630 points while Hillarion Pales III had 60.831 points to end up in 113th.
The individual all-around final will be on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the same venue.
The floor exercise final will be on Sunday while the vault and horizontal bar gold medal round on Monday.
