BAGUIO CITY — As calls for justice continue to grow over the killing of a 30-year-old weaver in Tabuk City, the Kalinga Provincial Government has offered a P500,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the perpetrator or perpetrators.
The Office of the Provincial Governor announced the reward to encourage witnesses and informants to come forward, assuring that their identities and safety will be protected.
The victim, Irene Campilis-Gayamos of the Mabilong weaving community in Lubuagan, was discovered lying in a pool of blood inside her home in Bulanao, Tabuk City on the afternoon of 12 November 2025. A student found her and rushed her to the hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. She sustained multiple stab wounds.
Local sectors have condemned the killing, calling for swift justice. The Municipality of Lubuagan denounced the attack as senseless, noting that Campilis-Gayamos was slain with “no apparent reason.”
The Innabuyog-Gabriela Kalinga organization said the crime constitutes violence against women and violates cultural values such as “paniyaw” (taboo), “ngilin” (abstaining from prohibited acts), and “bain” (shame). They emphasized the community’s reverence for women as “life-givers” and described the killing as a cultural affront — especially in Tabuk City, known as the “City of Life.”
A “Taskforce Irene” has been formed under the Kalinga Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) to fast-track the investigation. Authorities urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information online that could hinder the probe.
Kalinga Police Provincial Director Gilbert Fati-ig appealed to residents to cooperate and allow investigators to complete their work without speculation.
