Alleged Korean crypto hub dismantled, two minors rescued in Angeles City

An alleged crypto-trafficking hub was dismantled and two minors were rescued during a joint operation carried out by the authorities at The Knoll BPO Services Building, Barangay Santa Teresita, Angeles City on 12 November 2025.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) and other partner agencies conducted the joint operation against the company operating under the guise of a business process outsourcing (BPO).

The authorities conducted the operation by virtue of Search Warrant No. 25-426, issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 58.

The warrant covered violations of R.A. 9208 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act) in relation to R.A. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

Two minors were rescued during the operation, which also resulted in the arrest of three individuals identified as: Lim, a Korean national serving as manager; Gie, a Filipina secretary; and Jane, a Filipina manager.

Another Korean national working as an operator identified as Park remains at large.

Authorities determined that the establishment was allegedly involved in illegal cryptocurrency farming and online exploitation.

The said company entices recruits with supposed call center jobs but subjecting them instead to deceptive and exploitative digital labor.

Seized during the operation were:132 computer system units, 44 assorted cellular phones, several company documents and permits including modems, routers, and related digital devices.

PBGen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr., Regional Director of PRO3, commended the coordinated efforts that led to the successful operation, underscoring that shutting down cyber-enabled trafficking networks remains a top priority.

He emphasized that the accomplishment aligns with the PNP Focused Agenda of Acting Chief, PNP, PLtGen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., particularly on Enhanced Managing Police Operations, cybercrime capability enhancement, and community protection.
