The United States has provided additional relief assistance to “one of their closest friends, partners and allies,” the Philippines, after Luzon and parts of the Visayas were battered by super typhoon “Uwan.”
After extending an initial $1 million (approximately P58 million) in aid, the US added another $1.5 million (approximately P87 million) on Saturday morning.
That brought America’s total assistance to $2.5 million (approximately P145 million), covering logistics support, emergency shelter, water and sanitation resources, and the management of evacuation centers.
The latest tranche includes $1.5 million in emergency, life-saving assistance to support the government-led response.
The US also assured the Philippines of a rapid response, reaffirming the enduring ties between the two nations.
