Solo travel is gaining momentum across Asia, with digital travel platform Agoda reporting a 16 percent rise in single-traveler accommodation searches from January to October 2025 compared with the same period last year. The surge coincides with Singles Day, highlighting a growing preference among travelers to explore independently.

According to Agoda, major urban destinations remain the top choices for solo adventurers, led by Tokyo, followed by Bangkok, Seoul, Osaka and Kuala Lumpur. These cities continue to attract travelers with their mix of cultural sites, culinary experiences, and vibrant nightlife — elements that appeal strongly to those exploring at their own pace.

Japanese consumers make up the largest share of solo travelers on the platform, while Indonesia recorded the fastest growth in solo travel searches, jumping 72 percent year-on-year. Thai travelers also showed strong momentum with a 37 percent increase, signaling a regional shift toward personalized travel experiences.

“The rise in solo travel across Asia has become a defining trend in 2025,” said Jay Lee, regional director for North Asia at Agoda. “It reflects a growing desire for personal discovery and cultural immersion. Agoda is thrilled to support these journeys by offering options tailored to solo travelers.”

Agoda currently offers access to more than six million holiday properties, 130,000 flight routes, and over 300,000 activities, all bookable through its website and mobile app.
