The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered the immediate repair and rehabilitation of police stations and facilities damaged by super typhoon “Uwan” to ensure the continuity of public services and restore operations in affected areas.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. issued the directive after initial reports showed significant structural damage in several provinces.
In Aurora, the barracks of the Casiguran Municipal Police Station were destroyed, forcing police personnel to operate from an empty detention cell while awaiting repairs.
“We are expediting all necessary procedures to start the repair and rehabilitation of all facilities damaged by the typhoon,” Nartatez said. “We are also providing assistance to affected personnel.”
The PNP has mobilized thousands of officers for disaster response and relief operations in regions hit by recent calamities, including earthquakes in Cebu and Surigao del Sur, and the two strong typhoons that recently struck Luzon and the Visayas.
