There are rare moments in life when we meet someone who forever shapes our hearts, a woman of grace and timeless elegance. We celebrate the life of a truly remarkable lady, Teresin Mendezona.

Sean Campbell (Nephew)

Tita Teresin always found beauty in everything. During a family dinner, she once filled her tablescape with cadena de amor, a simple garden weed that she transformed into the most beautiful centerpiece. This reflected her outlook on life and her influence in my upbringing, shaping me into the person I am today. My wife Pia and I honor her by living out her legacy, seeing goodness in all things, bringing out the best in ourselves and others, offering kindness and keeping a steadfast faith in God.

Teresin was among my cherished friends. Through the years, we shared countless joyful and unforgettable memories. We would often call each other simply to ask how the other was doing. On that fateful day we spoke as we always did, unaware it would be our last. Wednesdays were reserved for mass and Fridays for lunch…a cherished tradition I shall deeply miss.

My dearest Teresin. You are love, beauty, joy, kindness, generosity personified. On earth, many of us gained much from being a part of your life. We look back with joy to these happy memories. My life is richer because of you. I love and miss you.

Teresin was the modern renaissance woman. She loved beauty and expression, appreciating art and culture. And she used her intellect and influence to help shape the cultural and artistic life of Cebu society.

Teresin was a lady of grace, elegance and quiet strength, her spirit refined by faith and resilience. She was my steadfast pillar in my darkest moments. Our talks rarely dwelled on fleeting matters, instead they were woven with thoughts of God. I still hear her gentle voice echoing her mother’s timeless words, “Puedes orar y arrodillarte todo el dia, pero nunca sera suficiente para agradecer a Dios.” “You can pray and kneel all day, but thanking God is never enough.” Childless by fate, I vowed to be “her daughter,” a promise I fulfilled with all my heart and spirit.
