For the third time this year, Dagupan has been placed under a state of calamity.
The city has once again been unable to escape the impact of a severe weather disturbance — this time from Super Typhoon “Uwan” (international name: Fung-Wong), the 21st tropical cyclone to enter the country this year.
Dagupan was first placed under a state of calamity in July due to flooding caused by the southwest monsoon (habagat), and again in September due to heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Nando.
Aside from Dagupan, other Pangasinan towns affected by the super typhoon include San Fabian, Lingayen, and Bolinao.
No casualties were reported in the province, according to the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
However, the province’s agriculture and infrastructure sectors suffered significant damage, estimated at P416.8 million in agriculture and P68 million in infrastructure.
