Globe ramps up relief, connectivity support in #UwanPH-hit areas
Globe has intensified its relief and network restoration efforts in areas affected by Typhoon Uwan while continuing ongoing response operations for communities previously hit by Typhoon Tino.
As of the latest advisory, “Uwan” has weakened into a typhoon and was located over the coastal waters of Bacnotan, La Union on Monday. The weather disturbance continues to bring heavy rains, strong winds, and storm surges across Luzon, including Metro Manila, and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Tuesday.
To support affected residents, Globe activated Libreng Tawag, Charging, and WiFi (LT/LC/LW) stations in eight areas:
Cauayan City, Isabela
Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (two sites)
Talavera, Nueva Ecija
Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija
Guimba, Nueva Ecija
Naga City, Camarines Sur
Lasam, Cagayan
Additional activations are underway in other provinces.
Through its “Alagang Globe” program, the telco also distributed 600 meals to 200 families in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, and Aparri, Cagayan.
Network restoration continues, with the company reporting 100% availability in Aklan, Antique, Biliran, Bohol, Capiz, Eastern Samar, Guimaras, Iloilo, Northern Samar, Western Samar, and Siquijor; 99% in Palawan; and ongoing repairs in Cebu (95.5%), Leyte (93.3%), Negros Oriental (98%), Negros Occidental (79%), and Southern Leyte (67%).
Meanwhile, Globe is still maintaining connectivity support in areas affected by Typhoon Tino. In Cebu City, free charging and WiFi stations remain open in Barangays Guba, Angsungot, Binaliw, and Cambinucot from November 9 to 11, operating daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The company said it continues to work with local government units and community partners to sustain connectivity services and deliver on-ground relief aid.
