The Bureau of Internal Revenue, led by Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui, Jr., filed a criminal complaint on 06 November 2025 before the Department of Justice against dismissed public works and highways officials, namely Henry Alcantara, Brice Ericson Hernandez, and Jaypee Mendoza. The BIR discovered a total of 1.6 billion pesos in tax liabilities after investigating the financial transactions, properties, business interests, and tax returns of the three individuals.
