Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III said a meeting has been set between him and former House Speaker Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez regarding the Blue Ribbon probe on the anomalous flood control projects.
In an ambush interview on Wednesday, 5 November, Sotto said the Senate is studying how to properly invite Romualdez to the hearing -- whether through a personal invitation during their meeting or via formal request coursed through House Speaker Bojie Dy.
"Pinag-iisipan lang namin kung iimbitahan baka pwedeng diretso imbitahin or through Speaker Bojie (We are thinking about whether to invite him, maybe directly or through Speaker Bojie)," Sotto said.
"Yun yung tinatawag na interparliamentary courtesy. Hindi basta-basta kasi pwedeng imadali yun. Hindi ginagawa [sa kanila yun], at hindi rin ginagawa sa amin yun (That's what we call interparliamentary courtesy. We cannot just rush it. We don't do it to them the same way they don't do it to us in the Senate)," he added.
Orly Guteza, who identified himself as a former security consultant of former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co, earlier told before a Senate inquiry that he personally delivered luggage of money to the residences of Co and Romualdez.
Romualdez, who resigned in September as House Speaker, maintained that efforts linking him to alleged kickbacks in infrastructure projects were "an outright and complete fabrication."
