Manny Pacquiao’s longtime trainer is 100 percent behind his boss’ bold bid to become a world champion at age 47.

Buboy Fernandez told DAILY TRIBUNE that Pacquiao has a lot of championship juice left in the tank and his being different from the rest makes him a tough nut to crack.

As of now, there is no definite date, opponent and venue for the esteemed Filipino Hall of Famer and Fernandez feels it would be ideal if the proposed fight takes place in March.

“He will be celebrating his birthday in December then we’ll have Christmas and New Year,” said Fernandez, noting that there couldn’t be enough time to get ready if an earlier plan to hold the fight in late January pushes through.

There have been a few names that have floated the past week or so and Floyd Mayweather and Rolly Romero have been mentioned with alarming frequency.

Last July, Pacquiao, fighting for the first time in four years, nearly beat Mario Barrios for the World Boxing Council welterweight crown in Las Vegas.

If it’s Mayweather, it would be a rematch of their May 2015 megabuck matchup won by the American in 12 rounds in Las Vegas.

But if it’s Romero, it would be for the rugged American hooker’s World Boxing Association plum.

Fernandez insists that even at this age, Pacquiao remains difficult to beat because he is a freak of nature.

“I have never seen anyone train as hard as Manny. They don’t even come close to what he does.”

“This is the reason why he is still up there. He is an intelligent fighter. And because he is so skillful and loves to train, it’s hard to beat him,” Fernandez said.

“Imagine, if you’re already a very good fighter and is smart in the ring and you enjoy training…how can you beat that?”

Winner of eight world titles in as many weight classes, Pacquiao doesn’t allow himself to go out of shape even if there is no scheduled date.

“Do you know someone who is like him?”

Fernandez smiled.
