The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is considering extending its full alert status beyond the traditional Undas holiday period to assist returning provincial travelers and prepare for the arrival of tropical storm "Tino," according to the office’s public information chief.
Police Maj. Hazel Asilo said Sunday that the NCRPO is currently on full alert until 3 November for the 2025 Undas observance.
“The extension of the full alert status will still depend on whether there are fellow citizens who need assistance, and the forecast of the storm,” Asilo said in Filipino.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported earlier Sunday that "Tino" had entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The storm is not yet expected to directly affect the country’s weather conditions on Sunday.
As of 6 a.m. Sunday, approximately 422,000 visitors had gone to cemeteries in Metro Manila, Asilo said.
“So far, the observance of Undas yesterday was generally peaceful. No major or untoward incidents were reported,” she said.
The NCRPO deployed more than 20,000 police officers across Metro Manila for Undas 2025.
One theft incident was reported at La Loma Cemetery in Caloocan City. However, Asilo confirmed that the female suspect was arrested at the scene as she was caught in the act.
