Lexus unveils six-wheeled LS concept

Flowing lines of the Lexus LS Coupe Concept highlight the brand's modern approach to design and performance
Lexus exhibited a six-wheeled creation that challenges traditional ideas of design and comfort at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 with the LS Concept. The concept looks more like a private suite on wheels than a conventional car. It marks a bold new step in how Lexus defines luxury.
The LS name has been redefined. Once known as Luxury Sedan, it now means Luxury Space. Lexus chief branding officer Simon Humphries said the change mirrors what luxury means today. He explained that modern customers value time, privacy, and peace more than formality or status. “Space is freedom, and space is privacy,” Humphries said.
The LS Concept reflects that belief through its size and interior layout. The six-wheel design allows a longer cabin and a wider floor area.
The cabin serves as a personal sanctuary with reclining seats, soft lighting, and large glass panels that create a sense of calm and openness. Lexus describes it as a place where passengers can rest, think, or work while in motion.
This design direction shows how Lexus’s role in the Toyota Group is changing. With the Century now positioned as Toyota’s highest luxury brand, Lexus has more room to explore new expressions of creativity.
The LS Concept stands as the centerpiece of that freedom, accompanied by two other models at the event, the Sport Concept and the LS Coupe Concept.
The Sport Concept focuses on a dynamic driving experience. The LS Coupe Concept emphasizes elegance and long-distance comfort. Both concepts show how Lexus is shaping its next generation of vehicles with a balance of emotion and precision.
Lexus also introduced smaller and more imaginative ideas. The LS Micro is a compact one-seat autonomous vehicle designed for short city trips. A solar-powered catamaran concept envisions a quiet and sustainable way to travel on water. These projects reveal how Lexus is expanding its view of mobility beyond roads.
The LS Concept may not enter production, but it represents what Lexus wants to achieve. The brand views the future of luxury as a space that travels with its owner and fits any journey.
