Taking pride as the first Mindanaoan cuisine to win a Bib Gourmand award from the Michelin Guide, Palm Grill is more than ready for the world to taste the flavors of Southern Philippines.
Located at Tomas Morato Avenue corner Scout Castor in Quezon City, the restaurant—owned by Chef Miggy Cabel Moreno—offers a variety of dishes from Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi (Zambasulta).
A Bib Gourmand recognition from Michelin is awarded to restaurants that serve high-quality food at affordable prices.
With pamapa, or charred coconut, as the star of their dishes, Palm Grill takes pride in one of its most prominent offerings—Tiyula Itum, also known as “black soup,” a rich and blackened beef broth, and Chicken Pianggang, a Tausug burnt chicken curry also made with pamapa.
Moreno also clinched another Bib Gourmand for his other restaurant, Cabel, which champions Filipino food in general.
Cabel, on the other hand, is located at J.P. Laurel corner Aguado Street in San Miguel, Manila, near Malacañang Palace.
Chicken Pianggang and Tiyula Itum are also served at Cabel, joined by other Filipino favorites such as Kansi, Kare-Kare, and Pinakbet.
With these recognitions, Moreno not only won two awards for himself and his restaurants—he also elevated Mindanaoan cuisine to national and global recognition.
