TARLAC CITY — Vice Mayor Katrina Theresa “KT” Angeles officially took her oath as the new mayor of Tarlac City on Thursday following a Writ of Execution issued after the Commission on Election’s (Comelec) disqualification ruling against former Mayor Susan Yap over residency issues.
Angeles’ office confirmed that her assumption of office is fully legal and effective, with no Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) issued to halt the transition.
“Today, we took our oath not as a celebration of power, but as a reminder that leadership is given to serve, not to rule,” Angeles said. She added, “As we officially assume the role of City Mayor, we carry this truth with us — true leadership isn’t measured by position, but by the direction we take for the welfare of every citizen.”
The swearing-in follows the execution of the Comelec en banc decision and the established rule of succession.
“No matter how circumstances may change, the people always come first. Together, let us move forward with faith in the law, hope in our people, and love for our city,” Angeles said.
Her office emphasized that the oath is backed by Comelec’s final and executory decision, ensuring a smooth and lawful transition of leadership.
