Aboitiz Construction, the construction arm of the Aboitiz Group, marked its 50th anniversary this year, celebrating five decades of growth, innovation, and contributions to the country’s industrial and infrastructure landscape.
Founded in 1975 as Gorones Development Corporation, the company has since evolved into one of the Philippines’ most trusted and diversified construction and maintenance firms—delivering projects that span heavy industries, light industries, and infrastructure across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“As we mark our 50th year, we not only look back on what we’ve built — we celebrate how we’ve built it,” said Anton Perdices, Director, President, and Chairman of Aboitiz Construction. “Every project, every partnership, every success has been engineered for excellence—guided by precision, driven by craftsmanship, and delivered with purpose.”
Aboitiz Construction has played a key role in several large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects that drive local economic growth.
In Tarlac, the company is leading the land development of TARI Estate in Tarlac City, envisioned to become a premier industrial hub. In Batangas, it is developing 217.5 hectares within LIMA Estate, contributing to industrial expansion and job creation in the region.
It is also constructing the new Lemon Square manufacturing facility for Big E Food Corporation, strengthening its light industry portfolio. In Mindanao, the company recently completed the DICT Bulk Terminal berth expansion in Panabo City, Davao del Norte, and the Lagonglong Port project in Misamis Oriental—both aimed at improving logistics and boosting trade efficiency.
Beyond construction, Aboitiz Construction has expanded into industrial maintenance and facilities management, providing support for AboitizPower’s generation facilities across the country. The company also handles site maintenance for Apo Agua Infrastructura’s water treatment plant in Davao City and a nickel mine and processing facility in Surigao del Norte.
Its partnerships extend to Aboitiz InfraCapital, providing integrated facilities management services at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, and with Republic Cement, where it supports maintenance and site operations—highlighting the company’s broader role in sustainable industrial development.
Safety has remained central to Aboitiz Construction’s operations. From 2022 to August 2025, the firm recorded 35 million safe man-hours across all its project sites. Recently, it was recommended for recertification of its Integrated Management System after a zero nonconformity audit, reaffirming its compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
The company’s performance has earned recognition both in the Philippines and abroad. Aboitiz Construction bagged a Gold Stevie® Award for Company of the Year (Materials and Construction) and a Bronze Stevie® Award for Support Department of the Year at the 22nd Annual International Business Awards®.
It was also named among the Best Employers in the Philippines for 2026 by the Philippine Daily Inquirer and Statista. Locally, its Safety Health Environment and Safety Month program received a Silver Anvil Award for sustainability communications at the 60th Anvil Awards.
As it enters its next chapter, Aboitiz Construction said it remains committed to its mission of building for businesses to prosper and for communities to thrive.
“Fifty years is not just a milestone—it’s a reminder of who we are and why we build,” said Antonio Peñalver, Executive Director of Aboitiz Construction. “As we look ahead, we remain focused on building smarter, safer, and more sustainable solutions for generations to come.”
From its beginnings as a small construction firm to a nationwide player in industrial and infrastructure development, Aboitiz Construction’s legacy continues to be, as its guiding principle states, “Engineered for Excellence.”
