More than 500 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Hualien County, Taiwan, received on-site government assistance over the weekend, as agencies brought services closer to areas affected by Typhoon Ragasa, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.

According to DMW, teams from the Migrant Workers Office (MWO)-Taipei, Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG Fund, and the Manila Economic and Cultural Office held a one-day outreach on Sunday, 26 October 2025, to assist Filipino workers who often struggle to travel to Taipei for transactions. Travel from Hualien to Taipei typically takes around two hours.

MWO-Taipei and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) distributed around NTD 416,800 (approximately P805,000) in financial aid to 14 OFWs affected by floods brought by the typhoon. Medical assistance was also provided to one worker. The teams processed employment certificates, e-registrations, membership renewals, and contract updates for participants.

SSS and Pag-IBIG assisted workers with benefits and contribution concerns.

Officials said the outreach aims to sustain recovery efforts and ensure accessibility of services for Filipinos in remote areas of Taiwan.
