Volvo Cars Philippines recently hosted the Board of the Philippine College of Emergency Medicine (PCEM) for its 2025 fourth-quarter meeting at the Volvo Makati showroom, turning the space into more than just a car display. It became a venue for a deeper look at the brand’s ongoing mission toward road safety.
The event gave emergency medicine leaders a close-up view of Volvo’s advanced safety systems, all rooted in its long-term goal of achieving “Zero Collisions.” The board members explored the brand’s engineering approach to preventing road accidents, highlighting how technology and medicine can work hand in hand to save lives.
“Volvo’s commitment to safety is a collective mission, not just a product feature,” Maria Fe Perez-Agudo, HARI vice chair, president and CEO, said. “By opening our doors to the PCEM, we want to connect our engineering discipline with their clinical expertise to make roads safer for everyone.”
PCEM president Dr. Dave G. Dato shared how the visit gave their group a renewed appreciation for innovation. “Prevention is always better than cure,” he said. “Seeing how these technologies already protect motorists is inspiring. Companies like Volvo remind us that safety should be something everyone can access.”
Volvo has been a pioneer in plug-in hybrid technology since 2012. In the Philippines, its XC90 and XC60 PHEV models reflect the brand’s ongoing effort to balance power, efficiency, and safety, all in the service of keeping more people out of the emergency room.
