Bathroom tissue is still most commonly used for wiping after doing one’s business. One disadvantage though is when the toilet paper (TP) dispenser is empty and has not been refilled.
TP manufacturer Charmin has come up with a solution to empty dispensers by rolling out its Forever Roll product. With 1,700 sheets, Forever Roll lives up to its name of almost unlimited wipes.
The maker of Forever Roll said it has 32 times as many sheets as the average TP roll so it can last for a month. It costs $34 and comes with a stand to hold it and an extra roll, qz.com reports.
“We know that having to replace the roll all the time is a big pain in the butt. That’s why we created Forever Roll and are bringing it to people at retailers nationwide,” said Jessica Hastings, Charmin vice president at Procter & Gamble in a statement, according to qz.com.
Meanwhile, a new toilet paper dispenser introduced in public restrooms in China has received criticism from the public. Videos circulating on Chinese social media show users expressing frustration over the way the machine works, Techspot reports.
The mounted TP dispenser displays a QR code that users must scan with their smartphone to connect to and play a video ad that runs for a few seconds. When the commercial ends, the machine dispenses a limited length of TP, according to Techspot.
Users who don’t want to watch the ad can pay 0.5 renminbi to make the dispenser roll out the TP.
The high-tech rationing of TP in China was in response to residents and tourists taking large amounts of complimentary paper from public restrooms, Techspot reports.
