The local government of Muntinlupa City has been ranked eighth among cities nationwide for the efficient use of public funds, according to data from the Department of Finance’s Bureau of Local Government Finance (DoF-BLGF) for Fiscal Year 2024.
The ranking is based on the Total Current Operating Expenditures (TCOE) per capita, a metric that measures how local governments manage operating expenses relative to their population size.
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the standing reflects the city’s focus on transparent and prudent spending.
“It doesn’t take a lavish government to be effective,” Biazon said. “In Muntinlupa, every peso of public funds has a clear direction, toward the welfare of the people.”
The DoF-BLGF typically conducts assessments covering areas such as local revenue generation and compliance with fiscal policies through performance audits and annual assessments.
