The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has launched a month-long basic Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) training course at Bicol International Airport (BIA) to enhance the emergency response skills of airport personnel.
CAAP on Friday said the course began on 20 October and will run until 14 November 2025.
The program aims to equip airport firefighters with knowledge and skills through theoretical and hands-on modules in aircraft rescue, firefighting, and emergency response aligned with international safety standards.
A total of 40 airport personnel from BIA, Naga, Masbate, and Virac Airports are participating in the training, CAAP said.
The initiative is part of CAAP’s efforts to strengthen readiness across airports, following the Philippine government’s mandate to prioritize aviation safety.
CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul del Rosario said the course is designed to ensure a high level of preparedness among airport personnel to handle emergencies effectively.
