For more than two decades, Maureen Larrazabal has made audiences laugh with her wit, charm, and infectious energy. But behind the bright lights and laughter lies a woman whose greatest success is not found in fame—but in the quiet strength of love, motherhood, and faith in family.
In a heartfelt interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, the sexy comedienne opened up about her life away from showbiz—the love that has grounded her, the family that keeps her inspired, and the lessons she’s learned about staying in love.
“It’s easy to fall in love but to stay in love is very difficult,” Maureen shared candidly. “It’s a choice that you have to make every day. So, choice ko to be with him, it doesn’t matter kung kasal kami or not, ‘yon ang pananaw ko.”
For Maureen, love isn’t about perfection or permanence—it’s about consistency. Married to her non-showbiz partner for over 22 years, she has learned that relationships thrive not because of grand gestures, but because of everyday choices made with love and respect.
“Ako kasi, very particular ako sa mag-aaway tayo tapos mahihirapan tayo. We love each other, we’ll be together,” she said, her voice calm but certain—a reflection of the deep peace that comes with knowing you’re exactly where you belong.
Together with her husband, Maureen is raising four children—two are his from a previous relationship, while the other two are their adopted, or as she lovingly calls them, non-biological children.
“I’m always there kung kailangan nila ako. Everyday ko silang kausap,” she said proudly. “I’m very close with my daughter, 19 na siya, but she sleeps beside me. Gano’n kami ka-close. So kilala ko ang mga manliligaw niya.”
Her hands-on parenting style has built a bond so strong that her children confide in her, laugh with her, and trust her deeply—proof that love, not blood, makes a family whole.
Still, Maureen admitted that being an adoptive mother came with fears—especially the worry that her children might one day question her love for them.
“Kasi hindi biological [ang dalawang anak ko], so ang takot ko, hindi nila maintindihan why, tapos magrebelde,” she confessed.
But what came next melted her heart and erased all her fears.
“Hindi na nila ako tinanong actually. Binitiwan na lang nila one day na, ‘We know that you’re not our real parent, but we love you so much that we don’t care to know who our parents are.’”
Her voice broke as she recalled the moment. “So doon pa lang, hindi na ako binigyan ng hirap na mag-explain ng mga anak ko. And because of that, I am really very thankful and grateful to them.”
When she asked if they ever wanted to meet their biological parents, her children’s answer was simple yet powerful:
“It’s not important anymore, mom.”
In a world where relationships often crumble under pressure, Maureen Larrazabal’s story is a quiet but powerful reminder that real love endures not because it’s easy—but because it’s chosen, every single day.
From the laughter she shares with her audience to the love she nurtures at home, Maureen has mastered the art of finding joy in simplicity. Her story reminds us that family isn’t defined by papers or bloodlines, but by compassion, commitment, and courage.
And if life is a stage, Maureen Larrazabal continues to give her most heartfelt performance—not under the spotlight, but in the loving home she’s built, where laughter, understanding, and unconditional love take center stage.
