BDO Unibank Inc. (BDO) has partnered with VITRO Inc., the data center arm of the PLDT Group, to support the country’s first AI-ready hyperscale data center, a major step toward building a stronger digital backbone for the Philippines.
“We want to position the Philippines as a competitive player in the global digital economy. VITRO Santa Rosa is not just a data center – it’s the backbone of the country’s digital economy in the AI era,” said Victor S. Genuino, President and CEO of VITRO Inc.
The partnership will provide strategic financing and banking solutions for VITRO Santa Rosa (VSR), a purpose-built facility capable of delivering up to 50 megawatts of power, 4,500 racks, and advanced cooling technologies. With globally recognized certifications, VSR is designed to host global hyperscalers and top-tier digital players.
VSR forms part of VITRO’s nationwide network of data centers, powering mission-critical operations from online banking and e-commerce to cloud services. Built for resilience, these facilities ensure 24/7 operations even during natural disasters or power interruptions, securing seamless business continuity.
“Supporting PLDT’s VITRO Santa Rosa reflects BDO’s commitment to advancing the Philippines’ digital competitiveness. By backing future-ready infrastructure, we are driving innovation, opening doors to global investment, and creating long-term opportunities for the economy,” said Charles M. Rodriguez, BDO Unibank Executive Vice President and Head of Institutional Banking Group.
BDO has played a pivotal role in the project’s execution, providing a flexible credit facility to manage cash flows during construction and implementing digital cash management solutions to streamline VITRO’s payment systems, enhancing efficiency and security.
Through its support for the country’s first AI-ready data center, BDO is helping strengthen the Philippines’ foothold in the global digital economy, enabling sustainable growth and a future-ready digital infrastructure that empowers businesses, attracts investments, and drives innovation.
