A lawmaker on Wednesday stressed the critical need to revive and strengthen Marikina’s renowned shoe industry, calling it integral to the city’s identity and the livelihood of thousands of residents.

Representative Marcelino Teodoro, who represents the city’s first district, championed the industry ahead of the upcoming Marikina Shoe Festival.

“Marikina shoes are not just products; they are a symbol of the hard work, skill, and heart of every Marikeño family,” Teodoro said. “We will continue to support programs that will solidify our local industry.”

The city, known nationally as the Philippines’ shoe capital, is showcasing the skills of its local shoemakers, whose handcrafted products are now expected to compete in the world market.

Noel Evangelista, general manager of C Point Shoes, affirmed the industry’s commitment to quality materials and modern design. “C Point proves that Marikina products can compete with known international brands,” Evangelista said. “Here, every pair is made with heart, not just a machine.”
