Mercedes-Benz has revealed the Vision Iconic, a concept car that signals the brand’s next step in design and technology. The model showcases the “iconic grille,” a reimagined version of one of the brand’s most familiar symbols. First appearing on the electric GLC, it represents the company’s move toward a digital and electric era.
“The Vision Iconic embodies our vision for the future of mobility,” Markus Schäfer, chief technology officer, said. He added that features like neuromorphic computing, steer-by-wire, solar paint, and Level 4 automated driving show the brand’s goal to bring tomorrow’s mobility to life today.
The Vision Iconic takes cues from the flowing shapes of Mercedes cars from the 1930s. It channels the elegance of models such as the 300 SL, W108, and 600 Pullman. The sculpted hood and chrome grille give it a sense of classic prestige while modern lighting and glass details reflect its digital sophistication. Gorden Wagener, chief design officer, described it as “a sculpture in motion” and a statement of “value, prestige and grace.”
The grille itself combines tradition with modern technology. Its chromed frame and smoked-glass pattern are surrounded by contour lighting and a glowing Mercedes star. The new “digital status front” uses animation and illumination to project emotion and identity, paired with slim headlights and deep black high-gloss paint that highlight its form.
The Vision Iconic mixes Art Deco inspiration with advanced digital design. The glass “Zeppelin” instrument panel displays intricate animations and a pillar-wide screen. A clock shaped like the Mercedes logo acts as an AI companion. The cabin features mother-of-pearl details, silver-gold accents, and blue velvet seats, evoking the comfort of a lounge.
The car also demonstrates Mercedes’ research into solar coatings that can generate power even when the vehicle is parked. The technology could produce enough energy for 12,000 kilometers a year.
Future models may use neuromorphic computing to boost processing efficiency and reduce power use. With Level 4 automation and steer-by-wire control, the Vision Iconic aims to deliver calm and precise driving.
The concept debuted alongside a capsule fashion collection inspired by its color palette and materials. Together, they mark a glimpse into the next era of Mercedes-Benz design and innovation.
