MARIVELES, Bataan — Police discovered and retrieved approximately 118 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, or shabu, from the waters off Barangay Sisiman on Thursday.

The street value of the illegal drugs is estimated to be P802 million.

Central Luzon Police director Brig. Gen. Rogelio Peñones and Bataan Police director Col. Marites Salvadora led the retrieval and inventory of the drugs, which were found tightly wrapped in six sacks.

Officials from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, local media, and municipal and barangay officials were also present.

Peñones expressed gratitude to residents for tipping off police about the drugs, adding that the discovery was a result of a successful partnership between the police and the community.

Police believe the shabu may have been dumped in the area and did not make any arrests. Peñones said the six sacks contained 118 individual one-kilogram plastic packages. He noted that the sacks and packages had Chinese markings, which indicates the drugs may have originated from China.
