Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito applauded the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ directive to unlink electronic wallets (e-wallets) from online gambling platforms within the next 48 hours.
“Game over na para sa mga gumagamit ng e-wallets para sa pagsusugal!” he said on a Facebook post.
The local government chair welcomed the development, saying that e-walllet apps should be regulated to prevent them from enabling online gaming services.
“Matagal na nating hinihintay ang aksyon na ito kaya mabuti at sa wakas ay kumikilos na ang Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas,” he added.
The senator also said that e-wallets should also immediately obey the order to end the victimization of the common people. GCash and Maya are among the applications affected by the order.
At hearings held last July, Ejercito pushed the banning of online gambling platforms, stating that these are even more dangerous than POGOs.
