The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is set to launch a new online database that will have the information of the current members of the national team.
PSC chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio said they had already struck a deal with a Manila-based technology firm, Elite Link, which would develop the database that would handle all relevant information of Filipino athletes.
Also in attendance during the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday in Makati City were Hans Bayaborda, Information and Communications Technology consultant for PSC, and Guillaume Lucci, president of Elite Link.
“This is not an MoU that will start from scratch. They have been doing this for the last three years,” Gregorio said.
“That is why maybe in the next few weeks, we will launch it.”
Developing a database for the national athletes is nothing new. When the country hosted the 30th Southeast Asian Games in 2019, the organizers came up with a website that contains all the information of every Filipino athlete competing as well as those from other delegates from 10 other competing countries.
The Department of Education has also implemented its own database for the Palarong Pambansa since 2024, where anyone can track the achievements of the student-athletes.
