Dengue cases in the Philippines have dropped by 33 percent in the last week of July, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Saturday, 9 August.
The DOH has recorded a total of 8,171 cases, lower compared to the 12,166 cases logged in the last week of June.
However, it advised the public not to be complacent about the dengue threat, whether sunny or rainy.
The agency said in February that dengue cases may increase this rainy season, but mosquitoes can lay eggs and spread the disease in any weather.
The DOH still reminded the public to practice the 4Ts — taob, taktak, tuyo, and takip — every 4 PM to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, especially now that the rains have ended and there may be stagnant water that can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
