Cebu bulk water projects pegged at P2.6B

Of the 17 bulk water projects funded by the Cebu Provincial government, only three have so far been completed, worth P87,789,427.05 as of July this year.

Based on the document furnished to the DAILY TRIBUNE by Cebu Provincial Engineer Hector Jamora, the total bid cost of the 17 bulk water projects was P2,634,220,906.93 and will serve 97,096 households.

Jamora identified the three completed projects as the Santander Bulk Water Supply (Cluster A) for Santander, Cebu, with 1,213 households in four barangays. It cost P15,848,808.93, with SBK Construction Inc. as the contractor.

The second is the Alcoy Bulk Water Supply in Alcoy, Cebu, with 4,119 households as beneficiaries in six barangays, with a total cost of P40,629,868.18, and Gonzalodo Enterprises JV Rudhil Construction and Enterprises Inc. as the contractor.

The third is the Barili Bulk Water Supply (Cluster B) in Barili, Cebu, with 737 households in three barangays, amounting to P31,310,749.94, and Mactan Rock Industries Inc. (MRII) as the contractor.

As for the 14 ongoing projects, Jamora said 91,027 households are to benefit, with a total cost of P2,546,431,479.88.

Notable projects include the Moalboal Bulk Water Supply (Phase 2), 98.76 percent complete for 8,690 households; Alegria (Cluster A), 17.97 percent complete for 4,967 households; and San Fernando, 48.34 percent complete for 9,582 households.

Other significant works include Boljoon (64.67 percent), Oslob (72.3 percent), Samboan (36.64 percent), and Malabuyoc (88.19 percent). Barili (20.12 percent), Asturias (0.67 percent), Dalaguete (18.01 percent), Tabogon (41.8 percent), and Pinamungajan (8.22 percent) are also progressing.

The Alcantara project is at 2.56 percent, while the Argao project has yet to begin. Project costs range from P36.98 million in Alcantara to P325.36 million in Argao, with contractors including MRII, SBK Construction Inc., Schelrman Construction, Geo-Transport, RJLR Enterprises and Nognog Enterprises.
