The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced it seized approximately P1 million worth of counterfeit Cocomelon candy products during a raid on a warehouse in Tondo, Manila.

In a statement, the NBI said that the fake products were confiscated on 30 July during the serving of a search warrant against MBK Distribution Inc. in Tondo.

Operatives seized 111 boxes of Cocomelon Tattoo Gum and 200 boxes of Cocomelon Long Mallows.

Charges for violations of Section 155 in relation to Section 170 of Republic Act 8293, also known as the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines, will be filed against the owners of MBK Distribution, according to the NBI.

The operation was initiated following a complaint filed by Orion Support Inc. (OSI) on behalf of its client, Treasure Studios Inc., the registered owner of the Cocomelon brand.

After conducting surveillance, the NBI secured a search warrant from Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 24, which led to the seizure of the counterfeit items.
