CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The discovery of five human skulls and bones in Barangay Tungkong Mangga, Bulacan, last has fueled speculation about a possible connection to the ongoing investigation into the disappearances of several sabungeros.

A Criminal Investigation and Detection Group source, speaking anonymously due to a lack of authorization, confirmed that investigators are exploring this possibility as part of their broader probe.

“To my knowledge, they are also looking into that possibility because the missing cockfighting patrons have yet to be found,” the source told the DAILY TRIBUNE on Sunday.

The investigation, a joint effort by the CIDG and Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), involves forensic analysis and DNA testing to identify the victims and determine the cause of death.

The source indicated that persons of interest have been identified and are being investigated.

The human skulls were discovered inside a sealed box near a daycare center on 13 July. A 64-year-old daycare caretaker found the box containing the skulls and other skeletal remains along Liana Road.

PRO3 Regional Director Brig. Gen Rogelio Peñones stated that they are coordinating with other agencies for the immediate apprehension of any suspect.

He also noted that investigators are exploring a possible connection between the skulls and reports of summary executions in Central Luzon, particularly in Bulacan.

Peñones appealed to the public for any information that could aid the investigation.

“Even seemingly insignificant details could prove crucial in piecing together the events leading to this disturbing discovery,” he emphasized.
