ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — A total of 37 individuals, including minors and adults, were rescued from the streets during a city-wide operation aimed at protecting vulnerable sectors and maintaining public safety.

The rescue operation, conducted on the night of 1 August 2025, was led by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), in coordination with the Angeles City Tourist Information Visitors and Engagement (ACTIVE) unit and the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Angeles City Police Office. The operation covered areas along MacArthur Highway, Fields Avenue, and several secondary roads.

Of the 37 individuals rescued, 21 were minors — six females and 15 males — while 16 were adults, including 11 females and five males.

According to the CSWDO, the operation is part of Mayor Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II’s continuing campaign to ensure the safety and welfare of minors, particularly in areas known for nightlife and entertainment establishments.

Fifteen minors were referred to the Kanlungan ng Kabataan Reformation Center, where they will undergo further assessment, counseling and rehabilitation programs geared toward reintegration. The remaining 22 individuals, both minors and adults, were given initial warnings and advised on appropriate conduct and safety practices.

“These efforts are part of our broader initiatives to curb illegal activities and create a safer environment for both residents and visitors,” said Mayor Lazatin in a statement. “We remain steadfast in our mission to protect our youth and maintain the integrity of our city. These operations will continue regularly.”

The city government also called on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, encouraging full cooperation in upholding public safety and order in Angeles City.
