ONIC PH gold laner Duane "Kelra" Pillas revealed he drew confidence from teammate roamer BJ "Brusko" Parro during a critical moment in Game 3 of their Mid Season Cup quarterfinal against Team Spirit last night at Amazon Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
With three ONIC PH members already, only Kelra and Brusko remained to defend against the full five-man push from the Russian squad. Armed with Granger and Chou, the duo pulled off an incredible defensive stand that turned into a game-winning counter-push to win the match after a grueling 29 minutes.
According to Kelra, it was Brusko who gave the go signal to fight.
“In Game 3, when it was just me and Brusko were left, he told me we can fight, and it encouraged me,” Kelra revealed.
Brusko, calm under pressure, said he never lost hope despite the odds. The ONIC PH roamer had already done the math in his head.
“I think it was a fantastic game. Team Spirit gave us a hard time winning. We just trusted and motivated ourselves to win the series. When three of us died, I calculated we could fight. Two versus five, we can fight because they entered the base,” Brusko said.
The epic Game 3 victory helped ONIC PH regain momentum in the series, eventually eliminating Team Spirit to book a semifinal date with defending champions SRG.OG.
