Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete officially took over as the 67th Commanding General of the Philippine Army on Thursday, succeeding Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido in a change of command ceremony presided over by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala described Nafarrete as a “seasoned leader with decades of service” who embodies “integrity, experience, and a strong commitment to the Army’s mission of peace and national development.”

“We extend our full support as he assumes command,” Dema-ala said, adding that under Nafarrete’s leadership, the “Army will continue to enhance operational readiness, pursue modernization, and uphold its core values of honor, patriotism, and duty in service to the Filipino people.”

Nafarrete is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990. His distinguished career includes commanding the 6th Infantry “Kampilan” Division, the 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division, and the Joint Task Force Zampelan under the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Western Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM).
