Lamborghini’s shift to hybrids is off to a strong start, with all three of its new electrified models taking home trophies at the 2025 Red Dot Awards. The Revuelto, Temerario and Urus SE each earned recognition for product design, underscoring the brand’s ability to evolve without losing its identity.
Leading the pack was the Lamborghini Revuelto, which received the Red Dot “Best of the Best” award. This model is Lamborghini’s first hybrid V12, and it’s anything but subtle. With a combined 1,015 horsepower from a naturally aspirated V12 engine and three electric motors, it delivers serious performance without straying from the brand’s signature style. The Revuelto’s design is as bold as its name, taken from a Spanish bull known for jumping out of the ring. That rebellious spirit shows in its sharply sculpted body, futuristic lighting, and fighter-jet-inspired cockpit. Even the air intakes are shaped for both flair and function.
The Temerario also earned a Red Dot Award in the same category. Built around a 920-horsepower twin-turbo V8 hybrid engine, the car was designed from the ground up in Sant’Agata Bolognese. It hits a jaw-dropping 10,000 rpm and is built not just for power, but for comfort, too. It’s a rare mix of track-worthy performance and everyday usability, all wrapped in Lamborghini’s signature lines.
Not to be left out, the Urus SE, the plug-in hybrid version of the brand’s best-selling SUV, was also honored. With 800 horsepower and updated aerodynamics, it’s the most powerful and efficient Urus yet. It brings together everyday comfort, advanced tech, and sheer torque, thanks to the combined effort of its combustion engine and electric motor. Lamborghini calls it their most versatile Super SUV to date.
Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini’s design chief, credits the wins to the efforts of the Centro Stile team. He said the recognition reflects not only design excellence, but the passion that drives the team to keep pushing the brand’s unique look forward. “Our goal is to give adrenaline a shape,” Borkert said. “Every line must speak Lamborghini’s language, even when taken out of context.”
The Red Dot Design Award, now nearly 70 years old, is one of the most respected design competitions in the world. Winners are chosen for their innovation and relevance in product design. This year’s awards ceremony is set for 8 July at the Aalto Theater in Essen, Germany.
For Lamborghini, design has always been more than aesthetics, it’s central to what makes the cars so appealing. And with the entire lineup now electrified, the brand is proving that going hybrid doesn’t mean going soft. If anything, these wins show Lamborghini is doubling down on design and performance, even as the industry moves toward sustainability.
