Charly Suarez is keeping his fingers crossed that his desire to face Emanuel Navarrete in a rematch before the year ends becomes a reality.

Top Rank chief Bob Arum said a couple of days ago that his promotional outfit is looking at staging the second meeting between the still-unbeaten Filipino against Navarrete, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super-featherweight titlist.

In their first fight last May in San Diego, Navarrete was earlier ruled the winner by way of a technical decision after it was deemed that the wound he suffered came from an accidental clash of heads.

Later, it was revealed that it was Suarez’s left straight caused it and the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) would overturn the decision to a No-Contest after reviewing all the videos.

“We’ll just train in the event the rematch happens,” Suarez said on Sunday.

Although he is not yet in training camp, the 36-year-old former national team standout insists he is not spending his time getting fat and lazy.

“I am doing regular light workouts,” the multi-titled member of the Philippine Army said.

Right now, Suarez is detailed at the Philippine Army headquarters at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig.

Given Arum’s latest statement, it appears that Navarrete is going to be back at 130 pounds and attempt to settle his beef with Suarez once and for all.

With his last fight ruled a No-Contest, Suarez stays undefeated with an 18-0-0 win-loss-draw mark with 10 knockouts.

Navarrete, who didn’t have trouble getting rid of Filipino rivals in the past, including Juan Miguel Elorde and Jeo Santisima in world title fights, sports a 39-2-1 card with 32 knockouts.

Arum said the CSAC should be lifting his medical suspension anytime soon, a move that will grease the path towards that second meeting.
