Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay has expressed her gratitude to Department of Health (DoH) officials for their visit to Palanan Sports Complex, one of the city’s key evacuation centers.
Binay said that the collaborative visit strengthens inter-agency coordination, ensuring residents displaced by typhoons “Dante” and “Emong” receive comprehensive health services and essential government support.
City Health Officer Dr. Bernard Sese and other Makati Health Department (MHD) officials welcomed Dr. Jose Mari Castro, Development Management Officer V, and Albert Jerome Casihan, DMO IV of the DoH NCR.
The delegation toured both the Palanan Sports Complex evacuation center and the adjacent Palanan Health Center, which is Metro Manila’s first DoH-accredited 24/7 primary health care unit.
Since Monday, Binay has directly overseen Makati’s disaster response operations, ensuring affected residents receive critical assistance. This includes daily nutritious meals, clean drinking water, essential medicines and on-site medical care.
During her personal visit to evacuees on Tuesday, the mayor observed the comprehensive support being provided. Beyond hot meals and hygiene kits, health teams administered Doxycycline to flood-exposed residents, conducted thorough check-ups for elderly citizens and children, and provided crucial vaccinations against measles, polio, and rubella for infants and toddlers.
The city has also established dedicated breastfeeding spaces for nursing mothers and organized psychological support activities specifically for children, recognizing the unique needs of minors during this challenging period.
These comprehensive efforts demonstrate the city’s commitment to providing not merely shelter, but complete care and holistic support for all displaced residents.
