PhilHealth has disbursed P227.5 million to the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) for benefit claims covering 459 patients diagnosed with Ischemic Heart Disease-Acute Myocardial Infarction (IHD-AMI), commonly known as heart attack. The claims covered admissions from 21 December 2024 to 18 July 2025.
This release follows PhilHealth’s recent enhancement of its case rate packages for IHD-AMI, offering greater financial protection for patients during critical medical emergencies. The improved benefits allow broader access to life-saving procedures without the heavy burden of high hospital expenses.
Under the updated packages, patients undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) may now receive P523,853 in coverage, a substantial increase from the previous P30,300. Fibrinolysis procedures are now covered at P133,500, up from P30,290. Emergency Medical Services with Coordinated Referral and Interfacility Transfer are covered at Php 21,900, while Cardiac Rehabilitation following PCI is supported with Php 66,140 in coverage. These benefit amounts are now available in all accredited health facilities across the country.
Key officials were present during the recognition of this milestone. Among them were Dr. Edwin M. Mercado, PhilHealth Acting President and Chief Executive Officer; Dr. Israel Francis A. Pargas, Senior Vice President of PhilHealth’s Health Finance Policy Sector; and Dr. Bernadette C. Lico, PhilHealth Regional Vice President for NCR. Representing the Philippine Heart Center were Executive Director Dr. Avenilo L. Aventura Jr. and Deputy Executive Director for Medical Services Dr. Christopher C. Cheng.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. expressed confidence in PhilHealth’s capacity to sustain its healthcare commitments to the public. “With streamlined claims processing and timely reimbursements, PhilHealth empowers accredited health facilities to consistently provide quality care for all.”
