Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon is calling on residents to help prevent floods by keeping their surroundings clean as Muntinlupa City embarks on developing a long-term drainage master plan.
In a social media post, Biazon announced the formation of the Drainage Master Plan-Inter Agency Team (DMP-IAT), established through an executive order he signed in 2023, a year after his election as mayor.
The DMP-IAT is tasked with creating a city-wide plan to address Muntinlupa’s persistent flooding issues.
Biazon acknowledged that implementing such a comprehensive plan will require significant time and resources and stressed that infrastructure alone cannot solve the problem without community participation.
“There are other ways to help address flooding, such as keeping our drainage systems clean,” Biazon stated. “Because even if we build new drainage, if it gets clogged with garbage like what’s currently happening, we will still sink in flood.”
