In a heartfelt and revealing sit-down on “KC After Hours” with ANC anchor Karmina Constantino, Megastar Sharon Cuneta opened up about her personal struggles, triumphs, and the strength behind her enduring grace. With candid honesty, she tackled long-standing rumors, reflected on her health journey, and shared powerful life lessons on forgiveness, fame, and staying true to one’s values.

“I NEVER WENT ON OZEMPIC” — SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT

In a social media age obsessed with quick fixes, Sharon Cuneta’s visible weight transformation has been the subject of speculation. During the interview, she directly addressed one of the most persistent rumors—that she had used Ozempic, a diabetes medication popularized for weight loss.

“I never went on Ozempic. I tried another medication once. I could not handle it,” she stated unequivocally.

Instead, Sharon shared that she has been under strict health supervision for years, owing to a long-standing heart condition. She revealed that she’s been on maintenance medication since 2003, and has two cardiologists who can vouch for the care she’s taken with her health.

“My resting heart rate is like that of a jogger, presently jogging. I can’t just take anything.”

A JOURNEY THAT BEGAN WITH HOPE AND DOUBT

Her decision to lose weight wasn’t made in haste. It was deeply personal—and filled with setbacks. It began in 2016, the year she turned 50.

“I had ruined my metabolism over so many years. Name the crash diet—I’ve done it.” she confessed. “You lose weight fast but it’s mostly water, sometimes muscle. Then the rebound hits. And you gain back more. That cycle ruined me.”

Instead of resorting to shortcuts, Sharon took the long road: reducing food intake, eliminating bread and dairy (her personal vices), and rebuilding discipline—one day at a time. “I just wanted to see if my body would still respond if I did it slowly. I wasn’t even sure. I felt hopeless.”

With the unwavering support of husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan, Sharon embarked on a quiet, consistent journey toward better health—choosing progress over perfection.

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

Beyond her physical transformation, Sharon spoke about emotional healing—particularly the choice to let go of bitterness.

“The biggest victim in unforgiving is the person that refuses to forgive,” she shared. “I didn’t want extra baggage. I wanted to travel light.”

For the multi-awarded actress and singer, forgiveness is not about erasing the past, but about liberating the self from it.

“You don’t change the past, but you change your future. And that feels pretty good.”

ROOTED IN HUMILITY

Despite decades of success, Sharon Cuneta remains remarkably grounded—thanks in large part to the strong influence of her parents, particularly her father, the late Pasay City Mayor Pablo Cuneta.

“No, I was never addicted to fame,” she said, when asked if she ever felt consumed by stardom. “Because my parents wouldn’t allow it.”

She recalled how her father would caution her even in jest:

Pag ‘yang ulo mo lumaki kaysa sa sumbrero mo, pupugutan kita.

It was a metaphor, but the lesson was crystal clear: never let fame go to your head.

“Our family came from nothing. My dad would always tell us his story growing up. That kept us humble.”

MORE THAN A MEGASTAR

At 58, Sharon Cuneta continues to evolve—not just as an artist, but as a woman reclaiming her health, peace, and purpose. In sharing her story so vulnerably, she reminds us that real transformation—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—is not instant. It is earned. It is hard. And it is always worth it.

“I think people would understand if they’ve been through what I’ve been through.”

And we do. Because in every word she speaks, Sharon Cuneta proves that the most powerful glow-up doesn’t come from shortcuts—it comes from choosing truth, love, and grace every single day.
