Pag-IBIG Fund rolls out calamity loan
Published on

Pag-IBIG Fund has activated its Calamity Loan Program to help members affected by typhoon “Crising” following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide immediate assistance to people in disaster-stricken areas.

“We’re ready to assist our members who have been impacted by typhoon “Crising” through the Pag-IBIG calamity loan,” said Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and chair of the Pag-IBIG Fund board of trustees.

“We’re closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to provide aid in areas that may soon be declared under a state of calamity. This is all part of our ongoing commitment to support the President’s call to deliver fast and timely relief to those in need,” Aliling added.

Through the Calamity Loan Program, eligible members can borrow up to 90 percent of their Pag-IBIG savings — which include their monthly contributions, employer share, and earned dividends.

The loan comes with a low annual interest rate of 5.95 percent, payable over three years, and includes a three-month grace period before the first payment is due. Members have 90 days from the declaration of a state of calamity in their area to apply.

Pag-IBIG CEO Marilene C. Acosta said fund branches are coordinating with local governments on the deployment of the Lingkod Pag-IBIG On-Wheels, the agency’s mobile office, to accept loan applications and insurance claims from members whose homes were damaged by the typhoon.

“When disasters strike, we know our members need help fast. That’s why we work hard to make our services as accessible as possible,” Acosta said. “Even though some of our offices and staff in affected areas have also been hit, our branches remain open and ready to serve.”

“We’re also deploying our On-Wheels mobile units once roads are clear, to reach members in the hardest-hit communities. And for those with internet access, our Virtual Pag-IBIG platform is ready to accept calamity loan applications online,” she added.
