Despite heavy rains brought by Typhoon Crising, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Monday said the number coding scheme or the Expanded Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) is still in effect.
This was the response of the MMDA when asked if the number coding is lifted amid the heavy rains due to the typhoon.
The UVVRP is in effect from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday but not during holidays.
Under the Expanded UVVRP, vehicles are not permitted to ply Metro Manila roads based on the last digit of their license plates during the said coding hours.
The MMDA listed the coding: Monday – 1 and 2; Tuesday – 3 and 4; Wednesday – 5 and 6; Thursday – 7 and 8; Friday – 9 and 0.
The agency said vehicles are permitted to use the designated roads for number coding during the window hours from 10:01 a.m. to 4:59 p.m. and from 8:01 p.m. up to 6:59 a.m. the following day.
Those exempted from the number coding are the following: public utility vehicles, transport network vehicle services (TNVS), motorcycles, garbage trucks, marked government vehicles, petroleum trucks, marked media vehicles, fire trucks, ambulances, and vehicles with perishable and essential goods.
